The ECFC Government Relations & Interpretations team has learned that two senior House Democrats are pitching a new plan for universal health care that would broadly expand Medicare coverage while retaining a small role for private insurers and an option for employers to fund Medicare plans for employees.
The biggest concern to ECFC are provisions in Sections 206 and 207 of the bill that would terminate HSAs and FSAs. Click here to download the proposed legislation.
ECFC will continue to monitor this proposal and others that are expected to be introduced as the new Congress convenes in 2019.
Meanwhile, we encourage ECFC members to take these actions:
- Make sure that you have renewed your ECFC membership for 2019 and contributed to the Legislative Action Fund (LAF).
- Register to attend the 2019 Annual Conference which will include extended visits to Capitol Hill. It is important for ECFC members to make sure that members of Congress and their staff understand the importance of consumer-directed health accounts to American workers and their families.
