On Tuesday (11/27/18), 12 representatives from ECFC member companies met in Washington D.C., for a series of meetings on Capitol Hill to explore the possibility of legislation moving in the Lame Duck session that would have impact on members.
Guided by the Mehlman Castagnetti team, they formed two groups and conducted 15 meetings, mostly with members of the Senate Finance Committee and House Ways and Means Committee leadership.
The message received consistently in the meetings was that Congress will mainly use the next couple of weeks of this session to pass must-do legislation such as a bill to fund the government. Few of the Hill staffers ECFC spoke with expected that any additional measures would be added to the bills.
However, most staffers also concluded the meetings by noting, that anything could happen in the Lame Duck session. For that reason, ECFC will continue to closely monitor Hill activity until Congress recesses.
